Trinidad’s Brandon Soverall competes on Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen” tonight at 10pm EST. Currently the sous chef at “Triniti” in Houston, TX, USA, he first gained prominence among local foodies via cooking events at Port of Spain’s Fanatic Kitchen Studio.
About Cutthroat Kitchen:
From Wikipedia – Cutthroat Kitchen is a reality cooking television show hosted by Alton Brown that premiered on August 11, 2013 on Food Network. Similar to short-form cooking reality shows, it features four chefs challenged to cook gourmet dishes to be judged by a guest celebrity, but introduces auctions in which they can purchase opportunities to sabotage each other or benefit themselves. Each chef is given $25,000 at the start of the show; the winner keeps whatever money he/she has not spent in the auctions. (read more)
See you then!
10:10p.m. First challenge is underway, the perfect BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato) sandwich. Of course, this being chopped, most of the Chefs have had different unexpected twists come their way. As a result most are now working with substitutes for their ‘BLT’ components. So far Chef Brandon has held on to his money, and his bread! *sigh of relief* Unfortunately though, just as the round was about to begin one of his opponents won a switch that forced Brandon to prepare his meal on a… shovel! Yes, that’s right, shovel. Aiaiaiai.
10:22p.m. It’s assessment time. I think Chef Johnny is going to be the one to go this round as he had very little to work with and the lack of bread really worked against him. Chef Brandon’s tasted good but the judge (Simon Rajumdar) lamented the lack of bacon. We’ll see!
UPSET! 10:26p.m. Well Chef Brandon was the first to go. I am not sure how his sandwich reminded the judge less of a BLT than Chef Johnny’s watery bowl but I guess that’s TV for you! I know this won’t be the last time we hear or see him!
