1. Upside Down Chocolate Pudding – recipe This is a great recipe for anyone entertaining on short notice (or on a budget), as well as for those who consider themselves baking challenged. The recipe was a cinch to put together and seems to be practically foolproof in nature with results that are so decadent and beautiful that no one has to be any the wiser You can view the recipe here. |

Barfi is one of those traditional Indo-Trinidadian sweets that one consumes when attending many a Hindu or Moslem celebration. You can view the recipe here. |

Goolab jamoon is a sweet finger food that is commonly served at Indian weddings, pujas and other celebrations here in Trinidad. It is made from a creamy fragrant dough that is deep fried and then drizzled with a reduced sugar syrup that quickly crystallizes on the doughy puffs providing both sweetness and sparkle. |

What to do when you have leftover Goolab Jamoon? Make pudding! This recipe also works with stale doughnuts |

Hi Sarina,
Great site! I’m actually researching Trinidadian cuisine for a university project in Toronto, Canada. Your top 5 desserts are very helpful. I’ve been finding many recipes for traditional dishes, but it is unclear to me which ones are most common and most representative of Trinidadian cuisine. Any suggestions?

Hi Tara
Thanks for the kind words
The recipes that I consider representative to, and traditional, are all prefaced with the word Trinidad in their title. That should help when searching the site
However I can give you a list if you want. Are you looking primarily at desserts or all types of dishes?

We’re looking at all aspects of cuisine, from special occasions to street food. I’m interested in just the ordinary lunch and dinner, that would be prepared and eaten at home with the family. If you had a list of those types of dishes/recipes that would be much appreciated.
Thank you again,~Tara
