Welcome to my Kitchen!

9 January 2007 417 views 39 Comments

I love the world of blog events. This time around I have to thank Veron of Kitchen Musings for making me aware of Lucullian Delight’s ‘Show Me Your Kitchen’. In that spirit, this is where I prepare all my dishes :)

It is pretty basic, and pretty cramped but it gets the job done. My mother and I often talk and dream about renovations, and some of the other participants’ homes were totally inspirational for me in terms of design :)

The first thing I do when I come down into the kitchen to cook is set my laptop (codename: Maccie) onto the microwave, crank iTunes and open MacGourmet. I love MacGourmet, it’s basically like iTunes for recipes :) Likewise I love iTunes, I am a musicholic and need it 24/7. I was thinking of sharing from time to time my playlists of what I cooked to. We’ll see :)
Hope you liked this little glimpse into my world! :)

where’s the window where you get great light for your food shots (especially the drinks ;-) )?

  • ilva said:

Thanks! I love the idea of using the mirror as a window over the sink!

  • Marsha said:

    Ok
so I think the next should be what is in your fridge and pantry. :)
I borrowed your idea over dey in my blog…

    Binghi – :D

Marsha – aww thanks :) I look forward to seeing yours :D I’ve bookmarked the fridge and pantry ideas :D

Chennette – it is the window in the room behind the wooden louvred door :D

Ilva – thanks for hosting this event! It is such a wonderfully powerful yet simple concept :) Mom came up with the idea of a mirror and it really adds light to the room and fights the feeling of being ‘closed in’

  • Mani said:

Sarina, what yuh does listen to when yuh cooking?

  • Sarina said:

Mani – All kinda thing :) Mostly alt/indie … but tons of pop jazz electronica in there too…

  • Marsha said:

    You Like pop jazz girl?
    Remember Dave Koz?
I was in love with his music for a while! I think i still am.
You Make Me Smile is my favorite

  • Veron said:

It’s great to see where you prepare all your scrumptious dishes! I agree with Ilva, that mirror is a nice touch to add.

  • Sarina said:

Marsha – i totally remember you and your dave koz fetish back in high school …. remember it was that strange music video/shopping channel thing that introduced us to that stuff? :) forget the name… i don’t really like most jazz made from the 80’s on… the odd track here and there but nothing i want to own… my collection is heavily 1930’s to 1950s .. with some 60s n 70s… loved your vintage record snag the other day :)

  • Sarina said:

Veron – oh thanks :D The responses have been so positive :) and i was so nervous about sharing :) makes me misty! :D I don’t know if you can see the border of the mirror clearly enough but mom used gold paint to spray paint stencil shapes using leaves… it’s really pretty!

  • Marsha said:

    MOR Music TV!!!!!!!!! hahahhah
it was really good I used to watch it like at 4am till I had to leave for school..
Meanwhile I joinded the Jazz Radio Club here. I made friends with he station manager and he gave me a couple CDs and invites to concerts etc..It’s great!
I listen to all kinda things when I am in the kitchen though…

  • Marsha said:

UGH I said JOINDED…scratch that…i made myself cringe!

  • Sarina said:

Marsha – you know i had written MorMusic and then i deleted it. Feel better now that not all my memory is corroded :D a jazz radio club sounds like a good thing. There is a Jazz radio station here now. it’s quite nice but i never listen to radio anymore … i think i’ll share my music mixes lolz :D

***uggh, trinigourmet eating up all my msgs, LOL!! 3rd attempt!***

so THAT’S the laboratory ;p i also am in a bit of a cramped kitchen situation but i love mine, so i can’t complain too much. you make do with what you have, i guess :) but i am sure most everyone wishes for either more space or a different design. at least, the food still tastes the same! one thing i DO appreciate about my kitchen are the windows. some of my friends don’t have any and it feels strange, sort of claustrophobic-like. i enjoy being able to open them when i am cooking, especially frying things.

fridge shots!?! yikes! — *runs off to clean* thanks for sharing your space :)

burekaboy – for the last 12 hours or so my spam catcher has been flagging legit comments as spam… and i have to go in and flag them as legit.. sorry you had to repeat your comments.. i wrote them and i hope it clears up… it seemed to have a few hours ago but like something is happening on their side. the whole net has been odd today.. esp all things hosted by google.. i suspect it’s because of MacWorld and the yahoo/google gossip…

Burekaboy – Well the comments are going back to spam again … for about 2 hours they were going through normal again… yes blogger and google have been down for large chunks of today… bialys are all gone :)

  • Lilandra said:

hi maccie! I don’t think there’s enough room on the microwave for mine
    or enough light

  • Sarina said:

lilandra – why you need light? :)

  • Rachel said:
