Trinitario Chocolate Stout [Review]
Late last year I was invited to taste the world’s first Trinitario stout from the Trinidad & Tobago Fine Cocoa Company. Trinitario beer? Sign me up! Unfortunately, due to some personal tragedies that occurred shortly after, my post got set aside… until now.
Produced in tandem with Brass Castle Brewery the beer is gluten-free and uses Trinidadian trinitario Cocoa Nibs in the fermentation process.
I thought it would be great to share my first taste with the SN Famalay on my Twitch stream, and share my reactions as I paired it with various local eats and treats.
Verdict? I really enjoyed it. The taste was smoother than expected, with the chocolate flavor well-balanced and slightly bittersweet on the backend. It paired wonderfully with sweet and gingery notes, milky desserts, as well as with pelau and stewed meats. Less successful (for me) was surprisingly chocolate dessert items however I’m now excited to see how it works as a savory recipe ingredient, particularly with molé based recipes and Beef Stew!
Holler at Trinidad & Tobago Fine Cocoa Company and Brass Castle Beer to find out when next it will be available!
