This week on Sweet Han’: Caribbean Cooking with Sarina my guest musician is Nandelle Cameron.
Nandelle was born! On the island of Trinidad and Tobago she started writing songs and playing the guitar at the age of fourteen, with a particular interest in the alternative rock and roll sound. After receiving a Track and Field scholarship, she moved to Jefferson City Missouri in 2006.
At Lincoln University, she was able to juggle the rigours of being a musician and student athlete, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and graduating as the 2009 Fall Valedictorian. A National and NCAA Champion at 200 meters, she has happily retired her Track and Field career and is pursuing her passion of music.
Producing and arranging her unique sound since 2003, she brings an eclectic mix of alternative fusion to the ear branding this new style – ‘Island Indie’. She is currently working on an EP and rocking the underground circuit!
TG: What has been a lifelong dream of yours?
NC: To be on a fun, successful and famous tour sharing my music with the world.
TG: Do you eat out often?
NC: I used to… Now I’m on a healthy home-cooked diet, so not as often.
TG: When at home, what do you like to eat?
NC: I love chicken! So chicken with anything!
TG: If there’s one dish from Trinidad that you think people should try what would that be?
NC: Definitely Fried Bake ‘n Fish! There is something exotic and alluring about that combination that I would want foreigners to try.
TG: If you could pick one place in the world this year to have a culinary vacation. Where would you go and why?
NC: I would have to say Italy… I’ve always wanted to visit and I love the food and historic culture.
