Lucozade

Going through the photos I’ve taken over the past year, including my period without internet activity I came across this photo of a Lucozade bottle. A local drugstore was giving them away for Father’s Day 2007. Yes, random I know  My first instinct was to check the expiry date… to my surprise it was still good!

To those who don’t know, Lucozade is the British ‘equivalent’ to Gatorade. And although I now prefer Gatorade, Lucozade will always have a sentimental place in my heart as I grew up on it. I can’t say I’m a fan of Lucozade’s new bottle and design, but maybe this is what the ‘kiddies’ today find appealing?

Growing up Lucozade was symbolized by the hella-fine British decathelete Daley Thompson (only one of the greatest athletes/medalists ever), who appeared in a series of ads for the beverage.

Recently, I found one of the ads on YouTube… I know this will bring back the memories for many a Trini

Being from the US, I never had Lucozade, but I definitely remember Daley Thompon.
When he came to the US for the 1984 Olympics, I was like WHOA!!!!!!!!….I was only 14, but he definitely caught my eye!

Thanks for sharing the new product (to me) and an wonderful Old Memory of Daley.

I checked out Daley Thompson’s web page, he is still handsome as ever!

I think they came out with flavored Lucozade which was better than the original-citrus taste I believe–it’s been a while since I drank the stuff in T&T

Melanie – the grape is pretty good, but having been rather sick the past few days I find only the original will help settle my stomach :(
