Looking at this picture feels so bittersweet. Chri Looking at this picture feels so bittersweet. Christmas lunch getting ready to be laid out at the table. My father and my aunt still alive. Her corn pie in the lower left corner. A turkey breast from my uncle at the top. Still to come Mom’s Jamaican Rice and Peas with gravy and Plantains baked in Orange Juice. Ginger beer, sorrel, pastelles, punch de crème and of course my Aunt’s Black Cake would bring up the end. Often with a side of mom’s Brandy Butter.

This for me was family. Now it’s just her and I.

That’s why I created Holiday Glam: 30+ Festive Caribbean Recipes. To contribute to our collective tapestry.

Every recipe in this collection carries the kind of detail and care that turns a dish into a memory. The layered flavours that can’t be rushed. The confidence that comes from understanding why each step matters.

This isn’t about chasing trends or shortcuts. It’s about preserving what matters and passing it forward with integrity.

I share these recipes as much for myself as for you.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

If you’re ready to get an early start on your own holiday magic this year, comment “HOLIDAYGLAM” below and I’ll send you the details. Or grab your copy now through the link in my bio.

When I was little, the sound of coconut being grat When I was little, the sound of coconut being grated in the kitchen meant one thing, Christmas had begun.

The air smelled of nutmeg, rum, and anticipation. My mother’s hands moved with a rhythm I can still hear today, blending warmth, tradition, and love into every dish she made.

Those moments taught me that cooking is never just about food. It’s about connection, memory, and joy.

✨ That’s what’s inspired my latest collection “Holiday Glam: 30+ Festive Caribbean Recipes”, a celebration of flavour and culture that helps you bring back the sparkle of true island gatherings.

Inside, you’ll find authentic Trini favourites like Black Cake, Pastelles, and Kurma, each one tested, perfected, and simplified for modern kitchens. Whether you’re hosting your first big lime or recreating family traditions, Holiday Glam will help you cook with confidence, ease, and style.

Every recipe tells a story, and now it’s time to create yours.

💫 Because festive cooking should feel joyful, not stressful.

So tell me… what’s the first dish that says “home” to you?

Divali is almost here, and I can already feel the Divali is almost here, and I can already feel the magic in the air. I always look forward to the flicker of the deyas, a vivid reminder that light always finds its way through darkness.

Like many of you, the kitchen is where I first learned that festive cooking isn’t just about food. It’s about love, patience, and connection. Every recipe carries a story, every ingredient a memory.

That’s why, if you’re not already doing it, here are 3 reasons to consider bringing Caribbean festive cooking into your celebrations this year:

1️⃣ It connects you to tradition. Dishes like kurma, barfi, and parsad are edible heirlooms that keep our culture glowing, one bite at a time.

2️⃣ It transforms your table into an act of love. When you cook with intention, even the simplest dish becomes a celebration.

3️⃣ It reminds you that food is joy, not pressure. Every texture and spice has a rhythm, and when you learn it, cooking becomes effortless.

That’s the heart behind Holiday Glam, my festive digital cookbook filled with over 30 recipes that blend tradition, joy, and a touch of modern flair. From Black Cake and Pastelles to Kurma and Barfi, each one is tested and perfected so you can celebrate without stress or second-guessing.

If you’d love to bring that Caribbean sparkle to your holiday table, comment “HOLIDAYGLAM” (no spaces) below and I’ll send you all the details, or check my Link in Bio to download your copy today. 🌴✨

✨ September has been a month of reflection for m ✨ September has been a month of reflection for me, both in the kitchen and in life. Between the busyness of daily routines and the challenges that come with caregiving, I found myself pausing often, asking what I am grateful for and what lessons I can carry forward.

One thing that stood out was how much joy this community continues to bring me. Every time you try one of my recipes, message me about your results, or share your own cooking stories, it reminds me that food is more than ingredients, it is connection. And even when things do not turn out perfectly, every attempt is a step closer to mastery.

Cooking can feel intimidating, especially when you are short on time or worried about wasting ingredients. I know that fear well. But I also know the joy of finally nailing a dish, of seeing loved ones light up around the table, of discovering a new flavour that becomes a family favourite. Those are the moments I want to help you create more of.

So as I look back at September, I am grateful for every one of you who has chosen to be part of this journey with me. And as we step into October, I cannot wait to share more recipes, tips, and stories that will help you cook with confidence and joy.

💬 Tell me in the comments, what is one dish you are proud of mastering this year, no matter how small or simple it may be? Your answer might inspire someone else who is feeling unsure in the kitchen. And if you are new here, follow along for recipes, tips, and encouragement to help you cook with confidence.

Last week reminded me that beauty is a feeling. It Last week reminded me that beauty is a feeling. It’s not just how a dish looks on the plate, it is the confidence that blooms when you trust yourself in the kitchen, the peace that comes when you find rhythm in the stirring and chopping, the joy of sharing something you created with love.

What works for me is leaning into those small moments, letting my kitchen feel like a place of calm and discovery. Yesterday, I launched the “Republic Day VIP Pass” and the response has filled me with so much gratitude. It will be taken down tomorrow night, so if you have been thinking about it, the invitation is still open. My “End of Summer Kit” is available until the end of the month, and “Flavour Sundays” are still on sale until the end of this week. Links to everything are in my Stories and Link in Bio.

I know the fears that often come with cooking, the worry of wasting ingredients, the pressure to meet expectations, the stress of results that feel inconsistent. But beauty is not perfection. It is the courage to try again, the growth you see over time, and the independence that builds when you realise you can master any dish with patience and guidance.

What is one beautiful feeling that cooking has brought you recently? Share it with me below, and then visit my Stories or Link in Bio to see how you can create more of those moments for yourself.

✨ SO happy to be fully back. At the end of May I ✨ SO happy to be fully back. At the end of May I fell quite ill, and it slowed me down more than I expected. Recovery has been a slow and steady climb, but one thing I held onto was the hope that I would feel strong enough to create again. And here I am.

I’m been rebuilding my balcony garden. And it’s so soothing and fulfilling to harvest ingredients that will go into my dishes right away. Here you can see me rinsing off some kale and Spanish thyme that I used yesterday 🤗

This week I released a new mini-guide “Caribbean Flavours in 5 Minutes: A Mini Spice & Marinade Guide” (link in my stories and bio). It feels so good to share something new with you after being quiet for so long.

And because I like to keep things interesting, I have another little surprise on the way. On Monday I will be announcing a special “End of Summer” Kit, designed especially with those of you in temperate climates in mind. Newsletter friends in The Golden Swizzle community will get early access tomorrow, along with a discount code just for them.

💬 I would love to hear from you. What has been your biggest kitchen win recently? Drop it below so we can celebrate together. And if you want first dibs on new guides, kits, and discounts, tap the link in my bio or head to my stories today.

That’s why, back in 2012, I created Glam By Request — my cookbook featuring over 30 easy Caribbean recipes designed to help you build confidence, explore authentic flavour, and cook with joy.
