Sarina,
As you know, I am a diabetes researcher. I find it interesting that the Caribbean as a historical site of sugar production, is now becoming a site of imported high-fructose corn syrup consumption.
Too bad the ad couldn’t be for Sorrel, Mauby, or even “Ting” for that matter. As bad as sugar is, this hfcs stuff is worse.

Funnily enough I have never seen billboards for sorrel or mauby… it’s all about the deep advertising pockets. It is interesting what you said about the reverse transfer of sugar consumption. As you know diabetes here is on the rise, in part because of the tastes shifting to fast food and convenience foods. I don’t have much of a soda fixation (thankfully) but it’s worrying when you see the things people are packing their shopping carts with, especially with children in tow!
