TriniGourmet’s 3 Cake Recipe Discoveries for May 2007!

1. Hostess Wedding Cakes

Huh? Wha? Apparently brides in search of non-traditional cakes are turning increasingly to cakes made of iced and stacked versions of twinkies and hostess cupcakes. YumSugar provides various visual examples of this growing trend, which I gotta tell ya is -not- for me at all  Should I decide to go non-traditional (as far as Trini culture is concerned) then I’d be looking at a croquembouche! :) Now I just need to find a groom!

Bittersweet Chocolate Cake

2. Bittersweet Chocolate Cake Recipe

I came across this recipe the other day. It looks dense and decadent, all the things one wants in a chocolate cake. I can’t wait to try it!

i’ve heard of that first one. and as much as i don’t like the current kiss chocolate cakes, i think i hate hostess even more. So, would you use kiss cakes or import hostess? :)

I remember before they made kiss choc-o-lot and started introducing all these other flavours and creams, the chocolate cake tasted oh so much better

I’m a twinkie person myself. Not an expert on cooking…for sure. I spent a year cooking at Bob Evan’s (breakfast food chain) which taught me one thing: how to cook eggs anyway you like. (Basted, Poached, Over, Up, etc.)

    Not exactly a funfilled experience.

Love the site. And thanks for the add.
