Fruits & Vegetables: A Succulent Variety (page 1) – Caribbean Beachcomber July/August 1969

The marketplace is the best source of local gossip, news and camaraderie. Also available is a magnificent display of the fruits and vegetables which add flavor and distinction to the Caribbean table. Fresh greens, creamy ripe avocados, mangoes, cherries, an abundance of starchy roots, herbs, and a goodly selection of dried beans – all of these and many other fresh foodstuffs are available at the marketplace. Since many of these fruits and vegetables are foreign to the visitor or new resident, a brief description of some of the more unfamiliar follows.
Over the course of this series I will spotlight each highlighted fruit and vegetable from this article. New posts will be created where necessary, and old ones updated and republished. However, for the impatient, I have scanned the first page below, click and enlarge for a sneek peak of what’s to come! 🙂
