Pastelle Making

This image appeared on the front page of yesterday’s Newsday Newspaper, and I thought I would share it :) The Caribs are the descendants of Trinidad’s aboriginal peoples.

This is the second christmas that I made my own Pastelles. I gave some to a few of my friends who said they tasted great and are behind my wife and I to get into the catering business. We cook and make many Trini recipes. However, can anyone tell us where we can get a Pastelle Press here in New York? Your help would save me the tedious task of pressing the Pomasa between two iron Tarwas.
    Sincere Thanks. C.J.

Hi Carlyle, I hope that someone will be able to answer this question for you… if not I’ll move it into a main post… have you tried searching for a tamale press…? you may have more luck searching under that term :)
